About

Emma Ruby Studio was created in 2020, after a great deal of reflection during the COVID-19 lockdown. I was lucky enough to be furloughed, and took the opportunity to think about life and what it's all about. I had taken up art the year before as way to comfort myself after a traumatic loss, and realised that it brings me a great deal of joy.

During lockdown, I ran an online daily drawing challenge and also learned some new skills thanks to Skillshare, MATS, and Make It In Design.

My inspirations are broad and varied, but I'm currently particularly taken with Raoul Dufy, the Fauvists and early 20th Century European decorative artists, such as the Wiener Werkstatte. Check out my Pinterest to see more of my inspiration.

The trees in my logo are stone pines, or pinos, as they are called in Huelva, Andalucia, where I lived 2011-2014. They are my favourite trees; I love how they are simultaneously wonky and elegant.

I hope my art and designs bring you as much joy and peace as they do me.
